Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo released the amount of 2 Million Pesos to cover the expenses of Task Force 211 for the rest of the year. Also, Presidential Press Freedom Fund in the amount of 1.5 Million Pesos will be spent according to the breakdown as shown below. The allocation was approved by Malacańang in consultation with representatives from Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists (FFFJ), an alliance of six (6) media organizations.

Task Force 211 deploys to the Cordillera Autonomous Region, probes mediaman slay case in Kalinga

Task Force 211 Chairman Ian Norman E. Dato immediately directed today the TF Operations Group to deploy to Tabuk City, Kalinga Province to investigate and produce any vital leads that can result to resolving the murder of Mr. JOSE DAGUIO, who was shot within his residential area last Saturday. The victim, Mr. Daguio, died while being taken to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

In the wake of recent media killings, the Task Force 211 Operations Group has successfully deployed its team of investigators to coordinate closely with local NBI and PNP units for the filing of cases against suspected perpetrators and the immediate apprehension of main suspects once Warrants-of-Arrest are issued.

Undersecretary and Task Force 211 Chairman Ian Dato said yesterday that the inter-agency task force handling cases of unexplained killings of media practitioners has sent a team of investigators to Davao to investigate recent cases of two journalists killed in Davao.
