TF211 Condemns Killing of Mediaman Ernesto Rollin
Task Force Against Political Violence and Extra-Judicial
killings (TF211) Chairman Justice Undersecretary Ricardo
Blancaflor today condemns the killing of yet another
mediaman in Oroquieta City, Ernesto Rollin.
“This recent incident should not slow us down in our
fight to eradicate media killings. We will not allow
these criminal elements to continue to terrorize us. The
full force of the law will be used to bring them to
justice”, Blancaflor said.
“The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Region X formed
Task Force Rollen to specifically hunt down these
criminals. As of this moment, elements of the Task Force
headed by PSUPT. Leonilo Cabug are investigating the
incident to determine the possible motive behind the
killing of Ernie”, Blancaflor explained.
Rollin was waiting for a public utility vehicle along
the highway when one of the two unidentified men on
board a black DT Yamaha motorcycle suddenly alighted and
fired at him. Rollen was hit in the head and arm. The
gunman was said to be wearing a bonnet while the driver
was seen to be wearing a helmet.
Rollin was a Production Manager and commentator at DXSY
in Ozamis City. He was on his way to the radio station
to report for work at around 5:30 in the morning when he
was killed. He was with his wife Laya at the time of his
death.
Blancaflor further said, “TF211 is currently
coordinating with the other law enforcement agencies in
the investigation and eventual apprehension of the
perpetrators. In this regard, I would like to personally
appeal to any witness/es who may have any information to
come out and help the police in the investigation of the
case. The information you will give will be treated with
utmost confidentiality”. ### |
