Justice Undersecretary and concurrent Chairman of Task
force Against Political Violence and Extrajudicial
Killings (TF211) today presented to the media the two
(2) eyewitnesses, Bob Flores and Lance Boy Escala, in
the killing of RMN broadcaster Dennis Cuesta on August
9, 2008 in General Santos City.
“The case was first cracked when it was filed
immediately at the Department of Justice (DOJ) last
August 19, 2008 the witnesses are here today to complete
the preliminary investigation. These key witnesses will
strengthen our case against the perpetrators and finally
give justice to the family of Dennis”, Blancaflor said.
Blancaflor added, “we would like to thank Task Force
Usig, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), National
Prosecution Service (NPS) and the other agencies who
gave their time and committed themselves into this
case”.
Blancaflor further said,” in fact, yesterday, I was at
the National Press Club (NPC) to attend a forum with the
other media organizations and an agreement was reached
that the NPC, NUJP, PPI and other media organizations
will assist Task Force 211 in the monitoring of cases
involving media killings. This is an indication that a
combined effort between the government and other sectors
of society can actually work together and achieve the
results that we all want”.
